ebm-papst milestones
1958
The principle of the tangential blower is developed to the production stage; SEL/mvl is the first manufacturer to do so. This development is the basis for the important position this type of fan has in today's market.
1963
For the first time, ebm introduces the size 68 motor, on which an entire series of various sizes are based. The "blockbuster" size 68 motors go on to achieve resounding success. Large numbers of these motors remain in use to the present day, in range hoods and other applications.
1965
ebm develops its first compact fans with EC technology, which is then still known as the non-commutator DC motor. This was the beginning of a legendary "career" that has now reached a technical peak in line-powered EC fans.
1985
PAPST introduces the VARIOFAN, the first IC-controlled and temperature-controlled fan, to the market.
1986
PAPST starts mass production of spindle motors for dynamic mass storage devices.
1989
SEL/mvl is the first manufacturer to supply EC centrifugal fans for the new gas condensing boiler heating systems. Today, ebm-papst remains the market leader for this innovative technology.
1998
ebm develops the first centrifugal and axial fans with integrated electronics. This development is the basis for products such as the ebm-papst "energy-saving giants," introduced to the market in 2003.
2000
PAPST once again sets new standards with the world's first programmable fan. The Vario-Pro DC fan with integrated microprocessor provides a previously unknown level of flexibility in fan configuration and function.
2003
The ebm, PAPST and mvl companies, each with a rich tradition, are given the collective name ebm-papst. All three continue to be legally independent companies.
2005
ebm-papst engineers have created an entirely new generation of gas blowers for the heating market. These are both smaller and quieter than ever before—with better performance and a more attractive price. Thanks to their newly designed modular construction, the blowers can easily be modified to adapt to the customer's wishes.
